Halogen Replacement Bulbs

An incandescent lamp, these generally consist of a tungsten filament which is sealed into a compact transparent envelope filled with a small amount of halogen and an inert gas. The lifetime of the bulb is enhanced through the halogen cycle which also avoids the bulb's darkening by redepositing tungsten from the inside back onto the filament. In comparison to a standard gas filled model, the these can operate their filament at a higher temperature without losing its operating life. This results in higher efficacy (10-30 lm/W) along with light of higher color temperature than provided by a non-halogen incandescent lamp. On the other hand, they may be designed to have twice the life with the same or higher efficacy.
